Respirae is the first project
in the BioSensor Projects series, an an interactive user
controlled installation. As the visitor to the work enters
they sit on a bench and breathe on to a small
hand-held interface housing a breath sensor and microphone. As they
breathe they control the movement of light particles projected on the screen in front of them. The sound of their
breath is recorded and panned across a four-channel audio system creating an immersive visual and audio environment reminiscent of a movie theater.Lynn Lukkas began the Bio Sensor Projects in 2001 and has been assisted by programmers Eric
Conrad, Mark Henrickson and Christopher Baker.
